These are “Late War” type tiger-stripe trousers from the Vietnam War era, specifically from the later stages of the conflict. They are size A-M.

The greatest appeal of this pair lies in the bright, faded hues of the tiger stripes, a result of years of wear and washing.Unlike the tiger stripes typically based on a deep black, the black has faded to a purplish charcoal, and the green has faded to a soft light green. This overall lighter, more washed-out color scheme creates a wonderful look that can only be found in vintage tiger-stripe items.

Another key feature to note when examining this late-war piece is the lightweight fabric and the depth of the print.

The pattern isn’t just on the surface of the fabric; the print has penetrated all the way through to the reverse side. The tiger stripe pattern is clearly visible even when the garment is turned inside out, and this combination of the thin, lightweight fabric and the depth of dye penetration creates the unique atmosphere characteristic of late-war pieces.

When you actually hold it in your hands, you’ll notice a lightness that’s clearly different from standard U.S. military cotton satin or ripstop. True to its nature as tropical wear designed for use in the hot and humid climate of Southeast Asia, it’s extremely lightweight. The fabric has softened with wear, making this a pair that lets you fully appreciate the unique charm of the tiger stripe pattern. The details are also excellent.

There are slash pockets on the front and flap-style cargo pockets on both thighs. The back also features a flap-style pocket on each side, making for a highly practical six-pocket design. Tiger Stripe’s distinctive local sewing specifications—such as the small flaps on the cargo pockets and the use of buttons—can be seen throughout.

Sizes for Tiger Stripe pants vary significantly from pair to pair, so the number of options that actually fit you drops sharply. This pair isn’t too slim and lets you enjoy the beautiful silhouette characteristic of Tiger Stripe.

Tiger Stripe is one of the camouflage patterns that symbolizes the Vietnam War.

Among them, this pair strongly retains the atmosphere of the later stages of the war.

It is precisely this fading—unseen in darker deadstock pieces—that is its greatest charm. The boundaries between black, green, and khaki have softened, and the way the entire pattern has blended together is truly stunning. Despite being so well-worn, the fact that there are no major repairs that detract from its character is also highly commendable.

Condition: USED.

While there are signs of heavy wear, fading, and scuffing throughout, there are no noticeable repairs, and it is in good condition for a vintage tiger stripe. In fact, this wear and tear has created a unique character where the fabric and print have become one.

With tiger stripes, it’s not enough for the pattern to simply remain intact.

The way the color has faded, the thinness of the fabric, the depth of the print, the stitching, the size, and the authentic, well-worn feel—

When all of these elements come together in a single pair of pants, they create the overwhelming presence unique to vintage Tiger Stripe.

The brightly faded color, the lightweight fabric typical of the late war era, the print that shows through to the reverse side, and the size A-M.

If you’re looking for a pair of vintage tiger-stripe pants that look great when worn, this is a pair we highly recommend.
