Among the Tiger Stripe patterns from the Vietnam War era, this pair features particularly striking colors. These Tiger Stripe trousers, dating from around the late 1960s, are believed to be either a classic pattern or a variation of the "Gold Tiger" style. The size is A-M. Larger sizes of this pattern have not been confirmed.

 

Tiger Stripe was not an official U.S. military camouflage pattern; rather, it is a camouflage pattern synonymous with the Vietnam War, known for having been procured locally and used by the South Vietnamese Army, as well as U.S. special forces, the Green Berets, and LRRP units.As a result, there are numerous variations depending on the place of manufacture and production lot, and tracking the changes in fabric, print, cut, and color is a major part of the appeal of collecting Tiger Stripe items.

This item features a very bold color scheme, with vivid green and yellowish khaki overlapping dark black stripes.While many Tiger Stripe items fade significantly with repeated wear and washing, this piece retains such rich colors that it looks almost as if it just came off the factory line. The ability to observe the pattern’s original contrast in this condition is a major appeal.

The cut is the “Asian Cut” characteristic of tiger-stripe pants from that era. It features a practical design with cargo pockets on both thighs and a large back pocket, and size-adjustment buttons remain at the waist. The front features a button fly. The hand pockets are missing from the original.An “A-M” stamp can be seen on the inside. Presumed to be made in Japan.

 

The pattern is believed to have appeared around the late 1960s, and this pair strongly evokes the atmosphere of the period as the Vietnam War was intensifying. While faded Tiger Stripe pants have their own beauty, a pair that retains such a deep, original color scheme—so close to its original state—possesses a presence all its own.

Although it is used, there is no noticeable major damage, and no buttons are missing. Considering its age, it is in exceptionally attractive condition. We highly recommend this pair not only for wearing and enjoying but also for pattern research or as part of a collection of Vietnam War-era gear.
