Among Thai-made tiger stripes, the “Shadow Tiger” stands out with a particularly striking presence.

It features an extremely dark tiger stripe pattern, dominated by black with sharp streaks of olive green and brown. With a rich color scheme that clearly sets it apart from standard Vietnamese tiger stripes, this piece allows you to fully appreciate the unique charm of Thai-made tiger stripes.

This Thai-made “Shadow Tiger” from around the 1970s belongs to the same lineage as the previous piece. These Thai tiger-stripe patterns are known to have been used by the Thai military and border guard units, representing a fascinating category that symbolizes military uniform culture in Southeast Asia from the Vietnam War through to the present.

What’s most impressive, however, is the color of the camouflage itself.

It retains a very deep base color that’s nearly black, creating a striking contrast with the light green and brown stripes running across it. When viewed from the reverse side, you can see a different print pattern than on the front, making it a highly compelling piece for comparing and studying the Tiger Stripe fabric itself.

The details are also exceptionally elaborate. On the chest are a “SEAMAN” name tape, a tape with Thai characters, a “U.S. ARMY” tape, and above them, an airborne unit’s embroidered insignia. Rank insignia are attached to the collar, and full-color unit patches are affixed to the sleeves.With this many patches attached, color is added to the Shadow Tiger’s dark body, resulting in a very striking look.

However, these patches were added later and do not indicate that the jacket was actually worn in this configuration at the time. Rather than as an original, worn piece from the Vietnam War era—complete with the patch set—this item should be appreciated primarily for the Thai-made Shadow Tiger jacket itself.

Another highlight is its robust construction—typical of Southeast Asian combat jackets—including the large flap pocket on the chest and utility pockets on the sleeves. The unique cutting and stitching, which differ from standard U.S. military-issued jackets, add to the appeal specific to this category.

Like the previous piece, this is a very stylish jacket that allows you to fully appreciate the deep-colored Shadow Tiger design. Its jet-black coloring—a stark contrast to the flashy tiger stripes of the Gold Tiger and others—is its greatest appeal.
