A U.S. Air Force Tropical Combat Jacket from the Vietnam War era, manufactured under a 1969 contract.
This piece corresponds to the 4th Model of the so-called “jungle fatigues” and features OG-107 cotton ripstop fabric with a distinctive checkered weave on the body. It is a highly atmospheric USAF jacket that strongly retains the feel of the combat era.
The contract label on the inside reads:
COAT, MAN'S COTTON, WIND RESISTANT, RIP-STOP POPLIN, OG-107, CLASS 1
DSA 100-69-C-1363
BURGESS MFG. INC.
100% COTTON
.
The size is the highly sought-after SMALL-REGULAR.
Above all, what makes this piece particularly interesting are the traces of its U.S. Air Force specifications.
A “JONES” name tape and a “U.S. AIR FORCE” tape remain on the chest. On the other hand, the unit and squadron patches that were attached to both sleeves have been removed, and stitch marks—presumably from where the patches were removed—are clearly visible on the chest pocket.
Unlike a complete piece with all its patches intact, the traces themselves—which invite you to imagine “what was once attached here”—constitute the history of this garment. This is the unique charm of an authentic Vietnam War-era fatigue jacket.
Overall, the garment shows substantial signs of wear, and the OG-107 color has faded from repeated wear and washing. Variations in shade have developed on the pockets and seams, and the ripstop fabric has taken on a distinctly vintage appearance.
For those seeking a genuinely well-worn 1969 USAF jungle fatigues—rather than a stock item in too-perfect condition—this very atmosphere is its greatest appeal. From the marks left by removed patches to the fading and the wear patterns in the fabric, it possesses the unique presence of authentic military gear that has endured for over half a century.
Even among 4th Model jungle fatigues from the Vietnam War era, the traces left on each garment are completely unique. This piece features a 1969 contract, USAF markings, the “JONES” label, and traces of removed patches. It’s a garment that captivates not because “nothing remains,” but because “the history of its use remains.”
Please note that since this is a used item, returns are not accepted.
