A U.S. Air Force 4th Model Jungle Fatigue Jacket from the Vietnam War era, contracted in 1968.

More than just a standard 4th Model, this is an exceptionally appealing piece featuring customizations unique to actual USAF use and original period patches.

The body is made of OG-107 cotton ripstop.The inner tag reads “COAT, MAN’S COTTON W/R RIP-STOP POPLIN, OG-107, CLASS 1,” and bears the contract number “DSA 100-68-C-2481,” confirming it is a 1968 contract item.The manufacturer is APPAREL CORP. OF AMERICA.

The standout feature is the unique customization typical of Air Force-issued items.

The jungle fatigues, which are originally long-sleeved, have been converted to short sleeves, and the silhouette has also been tailored. Rather than simply being worn as prescribed, the wearer made adjustments to suit their own environment and preferences, giving it a strong sense of authenticity typical of Vietnam War-era field wear.

On the chest are a “SWEENEY” name tape and a “U.S. AIR FORCE” tape. The rank insignia from that era remain on both sleeves, and all patches are reportedly originals that have been attached since that time. The greatest appeal lies in the fact that you can appreciate this piece as a complete entity—not just the body, but also the patches, stitching, and customizations.

The combination of the 4th Model’s signature ripstop fabric and large four-pocket design is also outstanding. The fade on the OG-107 and the wear around the pockets—resulting from years of wear—create a truly atmospheric look, giving it a character that only genuine vintage pieces can possess.

The size is SMALL-REGULAR (S-R). The tag lists CHEST 33–37 inches and HEIGHT 67–71 inches. Due to the conversion to short sleeves and tailoring, it has a silhouette that is clearly different from the standard 4th Model.

The fabric retains a slight stiffened feel, but this can be reduced to some extent through washing. Considering its age and history as a genuinely worn item, this is a piece in excellent condition.
