This item is a pair of Gold Tiger Stripe pants manufactured in Japan in the late 1960s. What’s more, it was discovered in extremely rare, unused—or so-called “deadstock”—condition. The camouflage pattern still retains its sheen and has not been washed, remaining in a condition virtually straight from the factory.
The name “Gold Tiger” comes from the fact that, over time, the green portions of the fabric gradually turn golden. While the color scheme is primarily a deep olive green when new, years of use, exposure to sunlight, and washing cause it to develop a distinctive yellowish hue—and it is precisely this appearance that earned it the name “Gold Tiger.”
Most Tiger Stripe camouflage was produced in Japan and used by elite units such as South Vietnamese CIDG soldiers, U.S. Special Forces, Navy SEALs, and SOG.Japanese-made Tiger Stripe camouflage from the late 1960s, in particular, is renowned for its high-quality stitching and fabric, and is highly regarded in the vintage military community today.
This item is a US-cut LARGE size. While many deadstock pieces tend to be on the smaller side, this is a rare US-L size that is still perfectly wearable today. A major appeal is that it can be enjoyed not only as a collector’s item but also as an actual garment.
Another notable feature is the aluminum HAMA zipper, known to have been manufactured by a company based in Higashi-Osaka.
