This is the U.S. Army 3rd Model Jungle Fatigue Jacket, which enjoys great popularity as a field jacket symbolic of the Vietnam War. It comes in the popular size, MEDIUM-SHORT.

Manufactured around 1966–1967, the 3rd Model features a cotton poplin non-ripstop fabric. While its shape is similar to the 4th Model, it was produced for only a short period, making it a rare model. It remains extremely popular today as a jungle fatigue jacket representative of the mid-Vietnam War era.

Although the contract tag is missing on this item, making it impossible to determine the exact contract details, the details suggest it is a 3rd Model from around 1967. The size is MEDIUM-SHORT, which is highly popular among both collectors and wearers. It is a rare size that still fits well even today.

Although it features a name tape on the chest, a U.S. ARMY tape, rank insignia, and division patches, we believe these patches and tapes were added at a later date. A closer look reveals a mix of authentic post-war items, reproductions, and other components, so it is not in its original condition from the time of actual combat. Nevertheless, it has been finished with a distinctive vintage-style custom jacket aesthetic.

With the 1st Cavalry Division patch on the left shoulder and a Sergeant’s rank insignia on the sleeve, this is a striking piece that evokes the Vietnam War.

The Jungle Fatigue jacket was developed as tropical combat gear with superior quick-drying and breathability, significantly lighter than the conventional M-1951 field jacket to cope with the hot and humid conditions of the Vietnam front. The large, diagonally placed pockets facilitate easy access to equipment. Used not only by infantry but also by special forces, aviation units, and military advisory groups, it is still highly regarded today as a classic piece of military wear.

The overall condition is solid, and the fabric retains sufficient body. However, there are several spots of red paint-like stains that appear difficult to remove. Although the contract tag is missing and there are signs of wear from age, it is in a condition that retains plenty of charm as a vintage piece to be enjoyed.
