This is a Tiger Stripe Booney Hat used by the C-3 Mike Force, MACV SOG, and other units of the Civilian Irregular Defense Group Program (CIDG) during the Vietnam War in the 1960s. This is a locally made boonie hat that can sometimes be seen in documentary photos. It is made from Silver Tiger shirts and repair fabrics, and has a black lining. The core is made of straw.
