This field parka features the "Pea Pattern" camouflage, one of the iconic camouflage patterns of the Austrian Armed Forces during the Cold War.

First adopted by the Austrian Armed Forces in 1957, this camouflage is a full-fledged post-war design and is commonly known in English-speaking countries by the nickname "Pea Pattern."At first glance, it may appear similar to the "Erbsenmuster" (Pea Pattern) camouflage used by the German SS during World War II, but it is actually a camouflage pattern independently developed by the post-war Austrian Armed Forces and was not derived from German military blueprints.

Its distinctive feature is a unique design that combines an irregular pattern of dark maroon brown, mauve, and pea green spots and cloud-like shapes on a pinkish-gray background.Furthermore, in the early versions, inverted pattern clusters were cleverly arranged within the camouflage to blur visual outlines. This feature is difficult to discern at first glance and is known among researchers as an intriguing detail.

This item is believed to date from the 1960s to 1970s and is contemporary with the "Kampfanzug 1957" and "Kampfanzug 1959" (commonly known as K4) used by the Austrian Armed Forces.Production of the P-pattern camouflage continued until the late 1970s, but it gradually disappeared from the front lines thereafter and is now an indispensable part of the history of Austrian military camouflage.

This large hooded parka features a practical design intended for field operations in inclement weather. It features functional elements typical of military clothing of the era, such as large-capacity pockets, a drawcord at the hem, and adjustable cuffs. Furthermore, gear and parkas produced in this camouflage pattern are scarce on the market, and their value as collector’s items has been rising in recent years.

Its unique color palette and organic camouflage pattern possess a charm not found in modern military wear, making this a piece that allows you to enjoy the distinctive presence of European military uniforms—a style that sets them apart from those of the U.S. and German militaries.

This is a used item. While it shows signs of fading and wear, the fabric is sturdy, allowing you to fully appreciate its vintage military charm.
